Mobile campaign review – Dodge

Well well, another week, another car mobile campaign.

This time it’s Dodge.

The struggling US car brand that has launched some rather odd models into the UK market with what must be said are some rather good campaigns. The last example was the Dodge Caliber (sic), a hybrid between an estate car and an SUV.

A delicately styled work of balance and poise it ain’t. But that it is not a beautiful thing has been made into a marketing asset. The adverts featured generic cutesy characters running scared (or peeing their pants) with the tag line ‘It’s anything but cute’.

I think they’re right – it is anything but cute (or good looking, or desirable), but the advert was excellent. So I was looking forward to the campaign of the Nitro, the mini SUV follow up with even greater levels of marketable ugliness.

The posters were disappointing, but, delights of delights, there was a CTA in the form of a shortcode. Hurrah!

So, I texted in, got my message back saying “Check out the Nitro mobile site at…”.

I selected the link. I waited. I got a 404 back.

You might say it’s anything but good.
