One for the ladies. Or not.

The Period Management PhoneOh. My. Gawd. So there have been phones that monitor your heart rate, bling Sheikh phones, simple phones, … and now there is a – wait for it, girls – phone that monitors your time of the month.

Say hello to the BenQ C36 phone, which will monitor your cycle, work out your Body Mass Index, and play you a tune or two in case you need cheering up after finding out a) you’re pregnant* or b) you’re overweight. God knows what else this thing is capable of. Maybe it emits a soothing smell of lavender and warms itself up so you can press it against your tummy like a mini hot water bottle. Maybe it sends a pre-written SMS to all your addresses alerting them to the fact you’re about to be irrational and irritable for a week. Maybe it does all the housework, so you can just veg out in front of Britain’s Next Top Model.

But maybe, just maybe, there’s a small use for this service. Us girls will know that whenever you go and see the doctor about something related to ‘down there’, they usually ask when your last period was. And I, for one, can rarely remember. So having it recorded your phone might be useful. But I’m guessing the phone isn’t a mind reader, so it’s still up to me to remember to make a note of it.

Anyway you can find out more over at Crave, who blogged about this. I’ll leave the nausea-inducing period puns to them.

*P.S. The phone can’t actually tell if you’re up the duff, by the way. Now, that really would be something.
